Jacob Katani

Biography

Jacob Katani lives in Lilongwe, Malawi and he is the first born son of the family of Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Katani. Jacob Katani started singing when he was 8 years old. His father used to take him to New Jerusalem Choir at Lilongwe CCAP, and up to now he is a member of New Jerusalem Choir. Jacob loves music like crazy, he plays Clarinet, Recorder, Piano and Guitar. Currently, Jacob has started his music school called Support Music School, and has an organization which is reaching out to many lives in the rural communities through fine and performing arts. Work Experience: Jacob currently working as a lecturer at Nkhoma University and he has also worked as a Country Director of Mau Oyiwalika (Forgotten Voices International) in Malawi. Jacob previously also held lecturing and administrative positions with Evangelical Bible College of Malawi, and he also taught at William Murray Secondary School as a teacher. Education: Jacob holds a Master of Theology (MTh) with a major in Community Development and a Post Graduate Diploma in Theology (PDT) from Stellenbosch University, Cape Town in South Africa. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, and he also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies with a major in Education obtained from African Bible College in Malawi. Jacob has a strong respect and empathy for rural communities, and a heart for serving the marginalized poor. He is so much passionate about music, and wants to use music as an effective vehicle for community development. In South Africa Jacob, has also worked with the Stellenbosch International Fellowship (SIF), which involved the leadership of the church and its ministry in poor communities at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
