Biography

Ndatsalapati Msanjama Personal Profile Ndatsalapati Msanjama is a music artist, an entrepreneur, a father, a church elder all rolled into one. He assumed a big responsibility of a choir master at Utatu Woyera Parish for choir 2 in 1994 at a tender age of fourteen. He was then porched from the Parish choir to join Golden Trumpet of Masintha CCAP in 1996 while he was still pursuing his secondary school education at Salima Secondary School. Msanjama was incorporated into Golden Trumpet for his music writing skills and ability to coordinate music as the group was playing using some two keyboards which were programmed and able to produce different beats and tunes. Among his compositions Ndatsalapati penned, ‘Sunday after Sunday, give thanks and praise, sungwana wapita’ and these became the people’s favorites. Golden Trumpets was mostly invited to curtain raise for such music greats including Chrissie Kanthuzi and sometimes the group performed on weddings. The group also featured highly at Masintha Church choir festivals in the 1990s. As years passed the group disbanded and everybody else was encouraged to embark on solo careers and in 2001 Ndatsalapati started recording in the studio. His first studio work was done at MC Studios in Blantyre by Tiwonge Chikusa. In the same year, in 2001 Msanjama compiled his first album called, ‘Amuna anga’ with Chris Kelly and was redone in 2008 with Ralph Ching’amba. Among the songs in this album were; • Amuna anga • Babie tamvera • Jaukata • Imfa Other Success stories • Ndatsalapati joined Ben Michael and the Zig Zaggers were he performed at several places • He Joined Lulu and Mathumela band and toured several places like Zitherepano in Mangochi, River Side- Salima, Culture Club- Likuni, Masintha- Lilongwe, Capital City Motel- Lilongwe, Mibawa- Blantyre • He is a registered music artist with COSOMA and benefits from music royalties • He sold copies worth 40,000 Kwacha at O.G Issa in 2003. • He was able to identify Rejected Bhema in 2012 and encouraged him to seriously venture into music and Ndatsalapati has collaborated with Rejected in at least three songs. • Ndatsalapati has also done music collaborations with Lulu, Dan Lu and intends to also work with DJ Sley, Henwood, Ralph Records among others. Entrepreneurship Skills Besides music, Ndatsalapati is a successful business man. He is well known as Mr. Pool Man for his skills in assembling pool tables, repairs and maintenances. He also acts as an agent for Pool Game Limited and employs over 10 people in his pool table business and manages a number of Pool Table outlets as an agent across different townships in Lilongwe. Currently, Ndatsalapati Msanjama is in the studio recording new songs and he has done five songs already recorded at Lulu and Mathumela studios by Lulu and he also has three videos and his several other videos are beamed on MBC TV. Future Plans • Pursuing his studies in theology up to degree level (currently is doing diploma) • Continuing with his role as a church elder at Kawale Living Waters in area 17, Lilongwe. • Introduce several sites around Lilongwe for his Pool Table business and as an agent plans to extend to also have an outlet shop for Pool Table accessories and continuing with Pool Table repairs and maintenances. • Deals and Sells second hand tyres, mug rims and Car wash services and plans to make some expansions on this service.
