Biography

Hailing from Mponela, Dowa, Mr Born Richie aka MacDonald Liwonde Chibwe is the 5th born in a family of 7. Mr Born Richie recorded his 1st album, "Lingakome", in October 2013 which featured the hit songs "Facebook", "Hello", "Mama Africa" and "Kadende". The song "Facebook" stayed on MBC Radio's Top 20 chart for seven weeks during which it was number one, dislodging Skeffa Chimoto's song, "Chinamuluma Chokuda". His sound is a fusion of Reggae and an Urban touch with a notable influence of Lambada. “Despite being able to handle other genres, I believe reggae and the urban touch tally well with my lyrics and musical feel,” says Mr Born Richie. A more than able keybord player, Mr Born Rich is also a talented drummer which he says helps him in the structuring of his music. His second album, "Mbiri Yanga" features the title song "Mbiri Yanga", "Ndidzakunvera", "Nelia" and "Walira Albino" which have all enjoyed massive airplay topping several radio charts for weeks. More than just being a musician, Mr Born Richie is a chartered Insurer with the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and graduate in Commerce from University of Malawi Polytechnic.
