Biography

Full name, Ambokire Salimu Jr, this boy has always had a passion for music. Born and raised in Malawi, music has always been a keen interest. At the age of 10, he first started writing rap lyrics, reciting Lil Wayne and 50 Cent verses over and over, trying to understand the craft. After the constant practice, at the age of 12, he recorded his first song with his crew at the time, The Eclipse, �New Era�, which ironically, was the beginning of something great. A few more singles followed that year and soon he was approached by Sean Focus of Imvaize, who then was under Matalala records and renowned Malawian pop artist Theo Thomson. Within the blink of an eye he went from his first single in the studio, to signing with Imvaize, at the time making Afro Pop music. Hits such as �Denga Ligwe� and �Ndamufila� followed. The exposure to music at such a young age fuelled a fierce drive and his interest in music kept growing. Working with names such as Boy Magic, Canny One (now DJ Africa) at a young age, he had all the inspiration he needed, all that was left is work ethic. Year after year, single after single followed. He then released �Element of Surprise� in 2013, a lunge into rawer rap as opposed to Afro Pop. That song was pivotal, earning the respect of not only his peers, but elders. At the time still in high school, boarding to be exact, balancing studio time and school was hard, but he made sure to persevere so people do not forget who AJ is. Years passed and plenty more releases came, the young artist was blooming. He and King Tuzi then went along to release �Good life� in 2016, another pivotal gear. It was a fan favorite amongst his peers, as well as that, another change in style. People noticed he had gone for a hint of lyricism as opposed to his previous sound. Could this mean something?
