Phillip Da Poet

Phillip Nyangali Phiri, professionally known as Phillip Da Poet, is a Malawian writer and spoken word artist. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree from Blantyre International University (BIU). Phillip’s passion for poetry began during his secondary school days at Chintheche Private Secondary School in Nkhatabay. However, it was during his time at BIU that he began pursuing poetry more actively, honing his craft and performing his works. To date, Phillip has authored three poetry collections and released several standalone poems. His creative excellence earned him a nomination for Best Writer of the Year at the inaugural 2024 Starlight Poetry Awards. Motivated by a belief that poetry is both entertaining and powerful, Phillip uses his art to address social issues, share lived experiences, and express the emotions and struggles that shape everyday life.
