Julio22, born Gracious Chris Kamphulusa is a Malawian rapper currently studying Business Administration at the University of Malawi, the polytechnic. Born on November 22, 1992, Julio22 incorporates afro pop and hip-hop in his multi-killer rap styles delivering his message using both his Malawian mother language(Chichewa ) and English. His first song was produced in 2010 titled “Masulani Balaba” which was released for competition purposes “machinjiri youth all-stars competition” sponsored by the Catholic Church in which he emerged the winner. This marked the beginning of his rap career. His music mostly focuses on the African youth life styles and their moral code. His singles produced within the years of 2012-2013 that enjoy the air play on local radio stations include: kuphulitsa life featuring nature fact produced at D&T records by stich fray, Ndiwerengere ndalama (hiphop version) featuring komakoma and nature fact produced by excess and “Mbola” produced by Excess. Julio22 took a music break in 2013 to focus on his business administration studies. Only to be back in June 2016 with a dope single titled “Ghetto Yout Akuriser” produced by P-ice. The list of artists who influence him include: Fredokiss, Martse, AB, Machine gun Kelly, and Sarkodie, as well as groups such as slaughter house and Zone fam (Zambia).
