DMD, born Diamond Banda, is a rising dancehall artist hailing from Likoma Island in the northern part of Malawi. Bursting onto the scene in 2018, DMD's journey began in Lilongwe while attending school, where his passion for music was sparked through shared sessions of listening to dancehall with his close friends. What started as a crew's love for the genre quickly evolved into a personal mission to create, inspire, and elevate through music. Deeply influenced by global and local dancehall legends such as Busy Signal, Vybz Kartel, Charlie Black, Mafunyeta, Vic Marley, Malinga, Don Gogo, and Chargie, DMD developed a sound that blends raw energy with authentic island vibes. His music reflects both his Malawian roots and the vibrant rhythms of Caribbean dancehall, making his style both unique and relatable across borders. Now based in Cape Town, South Africa, DMD continues to hone his craft, delivering high-energy performances and tracks that resonate with fans across the region and beyond. With a steadily growing fanbase and a deep dedication to his art, DMD is a name to watch in the African dancehall movement.
