Binge

Binge real name Chiyembekezo Mpunga, born in Zomba, grew up in Blantyre, started music in a family choir in zomba during the 80’s. Between 1994 and 2001 he used to participate in Rap and Ragga competitions at Kudya hotel, French cultural Center with artists like TackieT, Bugle Tanx, Teargas, Vic Marley, Nameless, Black Life, Majestic Family, Likoma Island, Mega D just to mention afew. In 1996 he met with Tiya Chalamwendo and they formed a group known as Natty Axe comprising of six guys including his young brother Young General. In 2001 he met the Late Vic Marley came up with an idea of releasing a dancehall singles collection, the idea was to collect singles of different Malawian Dancehall artists and put them together on one tape as a mixtape, that time Vic had already recorded Malilime and so with the help of Grace Records it worked and thry named it Ragga collection Vol 1. In this collection there were artists like Binge, Mad Character Crew, Bugle Tanx, Vic Marley, Mad Spark,, young General, Andy Banton, fire Furnace etc. It was engineered by Lloyd Phiri, Amos Soko and Grecian Mokoena
