Vee Bee and Moto Moto are the two artists that make Mabvume. The group’s inaugural project is solely aimed at disseminating the message of peace, love and harmony. The duo possesses art of music. Blessed with talent of composing, singing and performing music, the duo aims at soothing the souls with inspiring and motivating music. “We believe there is always beauty in diversity. We are bringing diverse talents together to give it Mabvume identity,” said Moto Moto real name Ekarri Machado-Mbewe. The name Mabvume means harmony or the blending of voices in Chichewa. The name best describes the driving force behind the formation of the group. “Mabvume distinguishes the inviolability of art and the diversity of music,” said Moto Moto. The group’s Vimbainashe Bokosi aka V Bee said they came together believing that hard work will have far-reaching success. “The industry is already saturated with a lot of artists but we believe it is just a matter of time before we start competing with the best. We have the talent but we are also blessed with a spirit of hard work,” said Vimbai. The duo’s first album Split Personality will hit the record stores in May. “We look at several issues including human relationships and most importantly God’s love for everyone,” Vimbai said. Moto-Moto said the album will have songs done in Chichewa, English, Tswana and Shona to appeal to a wider audience in Malawi and beyond. “We thought of using so many languages so that we can market it in Mabvume (Vee Bee and Moto Moto) neighbouring countries,” said Moto Moto. The promotional songs enjoying airplay are ‘Ubwere (Nambewe)’, ‘Ndi Iwe’ and ‘Air Conditioner.’ He said the name of the album Split Personality was chosen after noting that the members of the group have enormous and isolated differences. The other reason was that the album comprises discrete but mutually exclusive subjects, which have an impact on every person.
