Review : VIP To God releases "I was there 2.0" on Martyrs Day Maximum Sentence Inc. is hereby announcing the release of "I was there 2.0" by the self acclaimed sociopolitical Hip Hop artist VIP To God. "I was there 2.0" is VIP to God's first single in 2020. The first version was released in 2007. The first version covered events from Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Bakili Muluzi to Bingu wa Mutharika's regime hence version 2.0 picks up from Bingu wa Mutharika to the current regime. With Mr. Tex on the beat, recorded and mixed by Dre Beats, "I was there 2.0" features Lilongwe based Reggae Dancehall artist Don Tarz of "Wah wah" fame. "I was there 2.0" narrates the current unstable political landscape in Malawi. Among others, the song highlights how politics and demonstrations have affected lives and businesses of the citizenry. "As we commemorate Martyrs Day and celebrate our Martyrs, I want people to listen to the song and reflect on the Malawi we want. We need to look at history and think about the future," VIP to God says. He adds, "I was inspired by both current affairs and "I was there" version one. Harold Kapindu better known by his previous stage name K-Bonnie, now VIP To God is a Malawian conscious Hip Hop artist and award winning Journalist. He was a member of the now defunct Blantyre based Hip Hop group, Maximum Sentence. He has previously worked with Dare Devilz, Dizzo, Young Kay, The Nameless, Revolver, Rebel Music and Randy Jnr of The Basement among others.
