Biography

Born Jaleck Masakatira, Jaleck is a Gospel dancehall artiste from Lilongwe. He is a member of Zion Movement; a Gospel reggae and dancehall music group that takes its membership from across the three regions of Malawi. He remembers having started enjoying music in secondary school beating desks and imitating various artistes. However, his first studio recording was in 2014. By then, he had not yet encountered Jesus Christ. In 2016, Jaleck got born again and switched to gospel dancehall music. He has recorded a number of singles including Lapa, Sindidzasiya, Chidziwitso and Be born Again. He believes that dancehall music does not bar him from reaching out to lost souls. Dancehall music is to him a tool to transform and inspire his audience, as well as proclaim the Lordship of Christ to people of all tongues and backgrounds. With the objective of reaching out to both saved and lost souls, he is passionate about making and enjoying Spirit-inspired music. Jaleck would like to do music on international stages and influence its growth in Malawi. With Zion Movement, Jaleck has appeared in Zion Cypher and Still with Him, in which his versatile verses show the brilliance of an artist who takes time to study the Bible and write doctrine in a creative way. Locally, Jaleck is inspired by Patience Namadingo music. On the international platform, he loves DJ Nicholas. He thinks the DJ’s skill and the way he fuses ordinary day to day life issues with Biblical interpretation are extraordinary.
