Hazel Mak began her music career at the age of 11 in Malawi performing for various events such as ‘Miss Malawi’. Her efforts at such a tender age did not go unnoticed by the Malawian entertainers association and Channel O (Africa’s version of BET and MTV) she has appeared in various news papers nationwide and on the television screens of Malawi as young ‘wonder’ and an ‘entertainer in the making.
In 2000 Hazel moved to the UK, during this time she decided to continue her quest to stardom and has profiled in many showcases across the United Kingdom performing with the likes of Tinie Tempa, Smokey, Tay Grin, Lucius Banda, the Kamajors, Lake of Stars 2010 and most recently Fashion Mist 2011.
Currently, Hazel recently completed her first début EP ‘Embryonic’ to be released in Malawi in March 2012. She is also working with her new management on her UK album as part of the group El Mak. Hazel Mak is also back in the lab working on her forthcoming album Rhodesian Rhapsody which will be out later this year.
