Review :

The long-awaited album from the popular acoustic group hit the market in December last year but the launch is yet to take place.

“One of the two founding members, who also provides main vocals, Edgar Kachere, is away for studies in Germany where he should be back in June/July. He did many of the songs in the album before he left.

“Therefore, in his absence, the group cannot do anything major like launching an album. After July, that is when we will know the actual dates for our album launch,” said Davis Njobvu in an interview.

“So far, we will continue with shows where we have been invited to take part,” he added.

The band, commonly known for its hit Wazelezeka, has never ceased to impress its fans even with the absence of Kachere. Band member Chimwemwe Maloya has joined the vocals and has perfectly fitted in the puzzle.

“Chimwemwe has been a member for some time as he started performing in 2008. Since we are promoting music where people, in this case band members, are earning a living through a platform to showcase their music, we had him to fill in the space of Kachere for the time being,” said Njobvu.

Asked as to what he makes of the development as many people have heaped praise on Maloya for a job well done, Njobvu confidently said “this shows the band is properly managed.”

According to Njobvu, the 15 track album tackles various social-economic ills Malawians face in their everyday life.

The duo’s previous albums include Wazelezeka (2000), Musabwere Kumudzi (2005) and Dzubwera Mochedwa (2008).
