Celina Nayagam started her career in the Malawi Music industry in 2010 with Matalala Records’ ‘Team Gypsy’. After Team Gypsy disbanded, she went into Management as ‘Artist Manager/Label Representative and Artist Promoter’ at Matalala Records until early September in 2012.
By late October, Celina felt ready to introduce 3C to the world...” Within 8 months of being a solo independent act, 3C had 3 songs circulating local Malawi radio airwaves and 2 videos viral on YouTube and airing on local station ‘MBC TV’
Celina Nayagam aka 3C is a recreated image formerly known as ‘Miss Gypsy’.3Cis now a solo independent artist who started pursuing her own career late November 2012. She was initialy introduced to the music industry in 2009 with Matalala Records where she was behind the scenes as part of the entourage, watching; Theo Thomson and Team Gypsy perform at shows. However, Celina was still new to commercial music and the industry as a whole. Sean Focus (former Team Gypsy member; a co-founder of Imviaze) was the one who found Celina through a facebook rap-battle and was intrigued by her writing. He introduced her to Matalala Records and their members as a solo act and from then, Celina used to go to the studio everyday from April, 2010; being influenced, guided and mentored by; Theo Thomson, Yesaya, Bagpac, Sean Focus and Boy Magic, practicing commercial writing and rap delivery. By July, 2010; the members of Team Gypsy decided that she was to be part of their team rather then a solo act. This was soon after ‘Theo Thomson’s’ ‘Gypsy’ Album launch. Theo Thomson and Team Gypsy were running the Malawi Urban Scene with videos on DSTV and hit singles dominating local radio airwaves. With Celina still being new to recording and artistry, she was only on 4 songs on the 22 track ‘Travelling Project’ Team Gypsy had released in October, 2010 at the Lake of Stars Festival. Team Gypsy disbanded late that October,
where all the other members decided to pursue their own solo careers. Celina decided that going into management was best while she worked on her artistry She became Label/Artist Representative and Manager at Matalala Records for; Theo Thomson, Boy Magic, Canny One and Sam Chidothi. Early September 2012, Celina left Matalala Records. In November, Celina started recording as 3C and made her 1st single ‘Dance Malawi’ ft Canny One as a solo independent act that she released on local radio stations. Soon after, she had her first live performance at ‘Breakers Bash Disco’ in Mangochi. By April she had released her 1st music viral video, ‘The Letter (Remix)’ which she collaborated with Canny One, Cosby, Boy Magic and Gingy, which recieved great responses globally. This video got her recognized by ‘Music Unites Africa’ and by May was Malawi Music Ambassador for them. By June she released her 2nd video out on youtube for the 3rd song that was released on radio, ‘Work (The Tribute)’. Now she looks forward to doing her 3rd video, and planning the release of her EP ‘Born Before My Time: The New Generation’.
MUSIC UNITES AFRICA is a platform for 'Young Gifted' African artistes who are yearning to make positive differences in the developing societies of Africa. We are a non-profit organization that is destined to take the lead and unite Africa via the power of positive and inspiring music. Where many before us have failed, we aim to succeed by perseverance, continuity and Unity. Our Main Objectives are to create relevant awareness on issues affecting our individual societies and collectively work together towards finding long- lasting solutions for them. We support organizations who support African children, Youths and communities. Our main concerns range from societies affected by wars, famine, lack of good water supply, pregnant women with no means of livelihood and medical support, education for all African children, to diseases such as breast cancer, sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Typhoid and the immunization of African children across the continent. Fact is, the more problems we as Africans encounter in Africa, the more committed we are in ironing out those issues because we are the change Africa needs to effect the changes Africa needs. The basic roles of our ambassadors are centered in the creativity in our Peace Campaigns that affect our individual societies. Our voices/music are our main weapons in the fight for peace, stability and prosperity for the future of Africa. We are committed in a unified vision for Africa, which is a better- brighter Africa and
hopefully one day a United State of Africa where Tribe, Religion and ethicality give way for the common goal and good of our beloved continent.
