Mphatso Chikalipo (born 26 September 1984), known professionally as Mr P, is a Malawian Hip Hop recording artist, songwriter, and a radio personality. He rose to prominence in 2012 when his song "Am Sorry" became popular in his country Malawi. Before the hit single Mr P who used to do hardcore Dancehall music featured in Malawi's legendary artist Sir Soldier Lucious Banda's song "Could we start again" and in Tay Grin's "Focus Africa". Other singles under his name include Shadow, U Yoh and Musova. In the year 2016 Mr P embark on a "NGWAZI EP" (Rising of a Superstar)project.
Early life
Mphatso was born in Blantyre Malawi to a Malawian father and a Zambian mother. He attended Primary School at Misesa in Blantyre where he met some friends who introduced him to rap music when he was in standard 4. At home he also used to sing with his mother and sisters who enrolled him in a church choir before he even started primary school. During his early days he used to enjoy listening to the likes of Tupac, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Puff Daddy, Mase, Jay-Z, DMX, Bounty Killa and Lauryn Hill. Mphatso's venture in the Dancehall world started with the sampling of musical works from Bounty Killa as early as 1998, and recorded his first single "Chiphadzuwa" in 1999 at Baptist Media by Pastor Grey Samani alongside Mr Blaze and Jafali Sanudi. Later he joined forces with other artists Charles Taylor, Elgun, Gun Powder, Mr Happiness, Mr Blaze in forming the Mad Y Crew which performed in Rap and Ragga competitions and they always remained in top 3. When a Jamaican artist come into Malawi, Mr P had a chance to interact with him more often and got alot of insperation from the legendary artist.

Mr P's role in the music industry cannot be overstated. He has been responsible for bringing out many artistes such as Mafo, Nyakanyaka, Twin M, W Twice, Blaze, Mwanache, K Banton and Wella just to mention a few through his radio show DOLO WA MU HOOD.
He is the founder of Malawi's biggest radio music talent search show Dolo wa mu Hood and the C.E.O of Dolo wa mu Hood Entertainment.
