Mafunyeta has been described as Malawi’s dance hall king. He came on to the music Malawian music scene with his own style that has captivated many young people in Malawi. Mafunyeta grew using desks and tins as instruments and was influenced by Matafaleand Rich Spice. Mafunyeta rose to stardom by winning talent competitions. Now living in Lilongwe, Mafunyeta has released his album Ndimakondwa despite his music being banned by MBC. Mafunyeta is backed by his band Runtings. He is currently working on a new album, which with luck vinspired Lake of Stars goers may get to sample this October. - Music of Malawi
