Otis' passion for music and performing arts has grown since childhood. His interest in the reggae dancehall genre was influenced by the likes of Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Jimmy Cliff, Garnet Silk, Bounty Killah, Sizzla Kalonje, Capleton, Junior kelly, Anthony B, Vybz Kartel and lots more. Raised by a single father since he was 7 years old, Otis (aka Blasto) is a force to recon with.

In this music industry, he stands by the mantra: "creating music with a purpose" in order to bring music that expresses joy, happiness and real life situations to the people -- "Music is the only thing that can express the inexpressible”.

Blasto has played over 26 shows since 2008 and has shared the stage with Young Kay, Jinx, Phyzix, Kenny Klips, Dominant One, Bugle Thanks, Jede I Tafari, Ras Lazarus, Sista Fire and other local artists in Malawi. He has opened for South African-based reggae artist Born African and Australian-based artist, Sunny Dread and the international USA/ JA artist Sean Kingston.
