AyCee (real name Atupele Mahata) is a Malawian female artist previously based in Nottingham, UK. Her passion for music developed at the age of 10. Back then, she used to imitate musicians on TV, singing, dancing at school and at church.
She started off in 2011 following the release of her debut mixtape ‘ExploreMySafari’ on 4 May of that year. The mixtape featured songs such as 'Did It On Em' (Nicki Minaj), 'Romans Revenge' (Nicki Minaj), 'Lagos Party' (BankyW) and many others. She has also released singles such as 'My Africa', 'The Protege', 'Thank You Dad', 'Addicted' and 'The AyCee'. In 2012, she released a single titled ‘China Love’. The track heightened her popularity in the UK getting airplay on BBC 1xtra and radio stations across the country. That same year in October, she collaborated with Nigeria's celebrated singer Dr Sid on the song. She went on to release other singles such as Ndinene bwanji(2014), Wanga Ndiwe Wekha(2015), Sinzamusiya(2016) & Luv Me ft BlakJak(2018). She has also featured on other music projects such as Sean Focus's 'Waiting' and Young Kay's 'Zipepese' remix. As a song writer she co-wrote Sex & Scotch performed by Jesse Jagz in his album Jagz Nation Vol.1: Thy Nation Come(2013)
